I have 3 days off this week (Thur,Fri,Sat,) so I am thinking about installing the stroker. I don't have an a/f ratio gauge yet, so I am concerned about the injectors I have installed. I got the XR3E cobra injectors. Anyone running these? What are your thoughts on how they are working?
Does any know if the grill needs to removed to get the engine out of a TJ, or just the radiator?
A little about my stroker. 12 wt crank, short rod, 9.25 SRC / 7.8 DRC, Polished ports, 1.94/1.50 SBC valves in a 7120 head, 214 [email protected] / .501 lift, 1.6 roller rockers, 2001 intake, 62mm T/B. Going in a 2003 Wrangler with 5 speed trans.
I need to do something soon. The 4.0 is making horrible sounds and running rough. I don't know how much longer its going to last. This is my DD. I am hoping to get the stroker in and running right. I need to be driving it on Sunday.

Re: Fuel injectors
Sounds like a nice build. If I was using a 99+ with the ev6 connectors, I'd use those same injectors. Get an obd2 scanner and monitor the fuel trims once you get it going--that'll be the true test to see if those injectors are sufficient or overkill (keeping trims w/in +/-10% would be a good match). I'd go ahead and plan on removing the header panel(will make the pull and drop easier).

Re: Fuel injectors
That is what I used on my stroker when it runs. Its a pretty close match, but you might see it a bit rich above 3000 RPM. Interestingly it was closer to 12.5:1 with the Isky cam than the Comp Cam.

Re: Fuel injectors
Remove the grill assembly with the radiator in one unit, it will make life a lot easier. The down side to removing the grill assembly is if you have A/C you'll have to get rid of the freon and recharge it. It can be done by only removing the rad but its a PIA.

Re: Fuel injectors
Why cant you unbolt the compressor and hang it to the left side?
If it feels right, then STROKE it!

Re: Fuel injectors
My tj barely made it up a small hill on the way home today. So I am going to install the stroker. I started disconnecting all the electrical stuff today. First problem I found...My donnor engine came out of a 2001 grand cherokee. It came with an intake manifold, so I installed the intake on the stroker for a quicker install. The TJ intake and the grand intake are a little different. The 2003 TJ has 2 small bosses to bolt a wiring harness down that aren't on the Grand intake. The TJ intake also has 4 vaccum ports the Grand intake has 3. I have to change intakes...not a big deal but, can I reuse the gasket, or do I need to buy a new one? Also I can't remember the torque values. Does anyone know what the torque is?

Re: Fuel injectors
Thats interesting about the intakes. So, the intake had 3 on the left side, and two on the top for vacuum or what? Actually, can you get a pic of that, I don't know what bosses you are talking about.
As for the gasket. Did you put it on with out sealant? I think you should be able to use it again, but I would put some copper RTV on both sides to help seal it. What torque values do you need?

Re: Fuel injectors
I'll get some pics tomorrow with the intakes side by side. The vaccum ports that I am talking about are on the side of the intake.
I thought the same thing about the gasket. I didn't use any sealer. I may buy a new one just to make sure it seals.
I need the torque specs for the bolys and the 2 nuts that hold the intake/exhaust on. I printed them off alldata at work, but trashed them after I was done installing the intake.

Re: Fuel injectors
My mistake on the vaccum ports. Both intakes have 3 ports on the side. I am just going to use the Grand Cherokee intake. It's already cleaned and port matched and installed. The 2 small bosses on the Tj intake hold a small wiring harness. I'll figure out something to hold the harness later. The 4.0 is out and I should hopefully get the stroker installed tomorrow. I took the flywheel to the machine shop today to have it balanced. He said he will balance it first thing tomorrow, and I can pick it up at 9:30 in the morning. It was nice of him to put it ahead of all his other work to get it done for me.
BTW the 2 top "star" bell housing bolts were a pain to get out. I almost stripped the head on one of them. Only by the Grace of God I got it out. I'll be putting regular bolts back in.
