Spring seat machining
Hey guys, I'm in the process of getting my stroker motor buttoned up. The bottom end is all together and the head is at the machine shop right now. I have a question about the amount of material that can be machined out of the stock spring seats? Does anybody know how much can be removed? I am using LS1 springs that install at 1.8". The shop called today and they were concerned about getting into the water jacket by taking .150" or so out of the seats. It seems like there should be plenty of meat there. Has anyone had their seats cut deeper? If so how much and any issues? Thanks.
