Newbie Needs Help

Post by Kidder »

Hi, I'm new here and i need some help. First off the stoker i want to build is going into a 2003 Rubicon, is there anything i have to know about the computer controls, or anything that i need to do to not end up with problems. next I have a complete 4.0l and a 4.2l. I'm looking to build the stoker to run on premium. I don't mind spending the money for good parts but i don't want to go broke doing this. Where should i start. any help would be appreciated. I live in Alberta Canada so part numbers and suppliers would be extremely helpful. Thanks

Welcome! You're gonna have to do some research here. Look through the project section and see what other people did with their builds(parts they used, the different steps, issues that were addressed, etc). Go through the faqs and then pick some parts to enter in our calculator to get an idea of the numbers your dealing with. My stroker is a 10:1SCR and 8.56DCR build and it's on the edge of premium gas. I would recommend shooting for a 8.25DCR, so piston dish, quench, and cam are going to play a role in getting there. Another thing to note is your 2003 0331 head has the mounts for the coil pack rail and the other 4.0(maybe I'm assuming) might not(others have found a way to secure it, so it's not a breaker).

The pre 2000 engine blocks are different. The accessories do not mount the same, the water pump is different. Be carfull! Make sure you know what you are getting into.
