Electric fan temp switch

Electric fan temp switch
Where did you mount your electric fan temp sensor ? The front of the engine at the water neck has the ECM sensor. The back of the head has the temp gage sensor...In my case Autometer........
While I could tee off the rear of the head. Wonder if it would be a steam pocket instead of a raw water temp measurement. A T off the thermo housing would not be very clean looking.
There is the side of the block on the drivers side but good luck keeping anything from melting.
What do you folks think ?

Only other place I can think off would be to put a T in the heater hose where it comes out of the thermo housing. I've got a probe that goes in the rad fins right under the the top inlet and works good and I have the same setup on my Camaro and works equally as good also.

Good idea about the probe. I`ll take a look at Summit and see if they have a heater hose adapter that might work.

I haven't had any trouble with water or mud, but I do have a A/C condenser that protects it from most of the wheelin elements.
I wonderif there is enough meat in the thermo housing to drill and tap another port, I guess a guy cold have a aluminum bung tig'ed in place for an aditional port.

I recall a sensor in the side tank of the radiator. Isn't that the fan temp switch?

when i bought my adjustable fan switch, it came with a probe and a long steel wire type thing on it so you could put it in the upper rad hose, as the coolant is coming out of the enginejsawduste wrote:Rather read engine then radiator temp. An ideal though.

Took a look at my Hesco housing. The boss is already there. Only need to drill and tap for the sensor. So, sorry Bennie. I`ll modify my own set up.

Stock housing has a boss for a additional port, it has .16" material to tap into.
