Ok got the motor in starts very difficult and idles about 1300rpm, very rough. When it drives it has no power at all . Seems as if timing is way off. Started with fresh 93 octane gas.
Please help. Will provide more info if needed

I tried the toothpick method lining up the cam sensor and then it won't start at all, so I have to play with the sensor to get it to run. Does the snsor have to face any specific direction since the oil pump slot can rotate?

Since your engine uses a wasted spark system, maybe you are 180 deg out. You should probably pull the valve cover and verify that #1 is tdc on the compression stroke then try the tooth pick again.

Thanks. I'll try some stuff here Friday night. No I didn't degree it, didn't know what it meant, I looked it up and knew what it was after reading about it, but didn't know it was nesseccary untill you mentioned it. I will have to do this ASAP. Thanks so much

I'm not sure but I may have an issue with the crank gear. The timing (mark) divit is on the leftside of the keyway( on passengerside) when on TDC. The Haynes manual shows it on the right side(drivers)

Just went out and looked at my core 4.0, if the key is straight up the the timing mark will be on the passenger side, the marks must line up thrue the centers of both shafts when the #1 piston is at TDC.
You can get more power out of ANY engine!!!

Well after a weekend of wrenching it doesn't start. I redid and checked to make sure I wasn't a tooth off or 180out ,TDC & did tooth pick method. So now I will degree the cam. Anyone have any ideas or links to help explain the how to? I did some reading , but just not grasping it. Thanks
