Custom Pistons
OK here's my story, I have a 89 yj that has the 4.2. I have did all the mods, But still not satisfied. So now its stroker time. ( its either a stroker or blower) I am a huge fan of forced induction, But i want to try the stroker first (after all a blower will still work on the stroker). But anyway i have done all the research and have come to the conclusion that i will be using custom pistons. Not any specific reason, I just want to be able to control all the variables i can. So my questions are, Where have you actually gotten your pistons from and at what kind of cost. The price diamond gave me was 100-150 per piston. I don't mind paying for the pistons if this is the best i can do, But i thought maybe someone has found some better and or a bit cheaper or both. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be keeping the board updated when i start the build. Again thanks in advance.

Re: Custom Pistons
If you are gonna go for a forced induction build, I would recommend a custom piston w/ a ~30cc dish so that the scr would be below 9:1. I thought the Diamonds were slightly less than $100per, but it's been a while since I saw that someone got them for ~$500.

Re: Custom Pistons
Thanks for the info, No i contacted diamond and that is what they gave me in a ball park figure. J&E also e mailed today and 140 per was their bid. As far as piston ccing, I have 7 Blower motors that i have either Built or been the tuner on for many years. I am no stranger to forced induction, But i do appreciate the advice. I have e-mailed all the custom piston companies i could find and only 2 have responded. But when i find the ones i want and get them in hand i will post and let everyone know.gradon wrote:If you are gonna go for a forced induction build, I would recommend a custom piston w/ a ~30cc dish so that the scr would be below 9:1.
