Here are some of the parts i used in my build:
258 crank and rods fully polished
802cp .030 assembly balanced
later model block and head
Head fully ported with combustion chambers
LS1 hollow stem valves 2'in/1.55ex.
titanium retainers with manly nextec springs
screw in studs and guide plates
Crower roller rockers
custom .080 wall pushrods
skimped on the header..ebay crap
all ARP fasteners
comp cams cam nitrided with camsavers
cut open,welded and ported and raised port renix intake etc..

I'm a race engine builder by trade so i put every little trick i could into this motor but i still need 24ib injectors and a bored out tb.

Did you have to put the timing notch on that harmonic balancer yourself? What cam did you go with?

As for the ebay header... most headers that know of have cracked. I have been through 3 Doug Thorley's headers... The only difference is do you want to pay $150 for something that will most likely crack or $400?

No i didn't put any marks on it...the guy that tuned it figured all that out for me, not sure how he set the timing.

My Borla long tube (not actually that long it's a tri-Y but longer than most headers made for the 4.0) has seen 65k stroker miles and no cracks (knock on wood) I suspect part of the reason their Tri-y's last so long is all the primaries go into the secondaries at very little angle then the secondaries come together the same way. I have another identical one that has seen plenty of use and has no cracks either... in fact i bought it because of how good the first one has been.

IMHO the last place to skimp on any more ambitious build is with the header.... though I would seriously consider not using a renix intake as well.

i have a borla also and i love it i redid the collector on mine for a 2.5 inch setup seems to work great for me.
if your running a stock exhaust i would get at least a 2.5 inc setup if not 3 i have a 4.0L and mine seems to like the exhaust that i've got and the intake afe stage2.

I've had the borla header and cat-back for some years and last week I swapped out the cat-back(2.25"in, 2"out) for a 2.5" ss magnaflow and mandrel bent tailpipe. The stroker likes this setup a whole lot more(more low-end, less jake-brake off-throttle), so I can imagine how a 2.5" collector and downpipe would help things even more. I do prefer the borla's raspy tone, but the magnaflow and bigger tailpipe really put out some bass(does sound similar to a 5.0 w/ flows).

I built the motor at the shop where i work, we are in the process of putting up a web page dedicated to jeep motors because we are getting many request for strokers lately. Theheadshopracing.com is our site if anyone wants to take a look. Just had a friend do the tuning and it wasn't much tuning just setting the sensors and all that.

All the valvetrain is for an Manley LS1 stuff except the Crower Roller rockers, not sure off hand all the part numbers. When i get to the shop i will check the length of the extra pushrods i have for it and post it here. I had them custom made by Smith Brothers they make a high quality pushrod.

I missed the engine builder part in your first post. Had my engine work done locally and wasn't really impressed, will not be going back to them again or referring anyone. Always good to have other options, especially if the shop is embracing jeep engines.
