UEM 2229
I may have missed it some where but does anyone know the cc dish on the Hypertutectic UEM 2229 pistons? I'm assuming this is what Titan installed because they are the cheapest.

Even KB's website does not list stock dish .. they just say .100 deep...

Dino's sites list them as 12.2cc.
Edit: Actually that look like it from an older version of his site. He now lists them as 11cc.

I was affraid they where 11 thats what I found a few places but I have also found 11.5, 13, 13.5 14, and 22? Well even at the worst I can make it continue to live they have been in there since 2006 they only have 2800 miles or so on them. Titan installed them at about 28 below deck. Stock chambers 57cc, a .040 head gasket and .030 over bore moves me around 10 I fought off ping with fuel timming and distributor moves. I now have a cam with more swep volume so we will see what happens this round. FYI Titan had my spring seat pressure at 70lb with a 448 lift cam. I am beeting it was why mine did not rev thats valve float territory sping at 1.1?? I cant remeber was 160 -170lb. Was installed at 1.640 and my lifters where pre loaded .145. My freind milled the head and set the new Comp 942 dual springs at 1.700 thats 105 lb seat 298 at compression .060 before coil bind with the Comp 235 and I got Lunati 10deg retainers. FYI the Guys at Lunati where great, they did not seam to care how much I was buying. I wish I had spoke to them before the cam buy I would have tried it just because they where so cool. And then there is Bennie and Lee at Hesco, well if I had to do over their whole motor would be in there. Hell 5500. is nothing when you consider all the crap I went through with Titan.
Pulled the motor 4 times.
Took the whole jeep to them 2 times. Once I HAD TO GET IT RUNNING MY SELF TO LOAD IT.
Three cams, one head, one bottom end rebuild, one round of noises, a million phone calls!

I feel for you. Titan at one time tried to tell me that my MP springs killed the cam... then they sent me some similar to stock springs with a Comp Cam 682314.... they are really a class act when it comes to incompetence.

I am bassing the pistons on what I can see of the tops compared to others on the net. And the fact that they are the cheapest out there which uts them in range of Titan. They have what appears to be little circles or atom symbals around the entire dish area in a circle in the dish. Time to buy a berett.

New item, the keeper I had over nighted to me from Lunati are not right. They are for a square notch in the valve stem not the bead lock. The Lunati guy Jeff put me on hold and then told me he only had two of the right ones but put me on hold for about three minutes came back with a Manley part number and where to get them. He also said beware Jeep stems are not 8mm, they are 5/16 which is .311 not .314, he said if the keeper edges touch they will pop loose. Pretty good service from a company that sent me to another company to get me the part I needed. It just sucks I spent so much to send them over night only to be wrong. Future reference Comp 942 springs set at 1.700 +- gives you a 105 seat, Coil bind at 1.125 giving .060. Spring diameter 1.437 Lunati retainers are perfect for these springs at 1.490 dia advertised at 1.500 dia and Manley 10deg keepers bead lock type 5/16. Springs 62.00 retainer 39.93 keepers 33.95 through Summit.

I got a set of Manley eight degree locks, the bead lock (not square). They wouldn't
work due to the shoulder/top of the lock was way too tall, and interfered with the
stock rocker arm, I don't know if they would fit a set of roller rockers, that is how
tall they are. I don't have my information or Manley part number with me today,
I will get it tomorrow, if you'd want that info.

Same issue with my 10deg but the machine shop cut them down. That is for a lash cap, funnything is when you go on Summits site they show it without a lash cap extension. All went well except the Lunati retainers are to dished and hit the rocker arm bae underneath. The shop doing the work came up with a better set so basicaly I wasted 157.00 on retainers and keepers, I can return the keepers but we milled the retainer for clearence and it was a no go so now there mine. I am going to piss and moan to Lunati on that one since they said they would fit.

Things I found along the way, Mopar oil pumps are just Mellings sold at a marked up price, Comp Cam timing chain sets are just marked up ENGINE TECH parts, the numbers are clearly marked on them. Vale spring combos that are really good for over .475 lift are hard to make up. I should have put a 302 in here it would have been cheaper and kicked this 4.6s ass. But I really wanted to keep it simple so when I am traveling I can get parts.

JP performance or Rollmaster are good double roller chains. You can buy them on ebay. The stock retainers for the 2.5 dodge are supposed to be the same size as the Mopar performance P4452032.
