Mopar p4529228AB advance/retard?

Post by laxplayermjd »

Hey guys im trying to use the stroker calculator, Im leaning towards going with the mopar p4529228AB cam. I know the specs needed for calculator are duration, lobe centerline and advance/retard... well i have 240 duration and 108 centerline. I cant find anywhere where the cam has built in advance or retard????

Maybe it doesn't? So i should be entering 0? Just trying to make sure guys because it has a big effect of DCR and need to know how much to dish the pistons. Anyone know the answer? I know atleast one of you guys have used one of the mopar cams. Please chime in here. Thanks for the help

What is the Intake Centerline? LSA Minus Intake Centerline = cam advance/retard.

I believe all the Mopar Perf. cams are straight up, no advance or retard ground into them.

I second -the Purple cam zero advance / retard equals zero. There is a good list of various cams at www.angelfire.com/my/fan/Jeep4.0Camshafts.htm. Subtract Intake centerline angle from lobe seperation angle. Negative answer =retard, Positive answer =advance. Zero=none.

I just noticed that the information on that site for the COMP 68-232-4 is wrong. The linked site lists the centerline angle as 107 but the COMP datasheet lists 110:
http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/CamSp ... px?csid=12
Several of the COMP cams have a centerline of 106, the linked site lists 107 for most.

That means that the COMP 68-232-4 only has 3 degrees advance. The CR Calculator on this site is now wrong too.

I dont know alot either. My main deciding factor is the mopar cam has wider lobes, as far as i know all aftermarket cams have the skinny lobes. Also i hear of lots of aftermarket cam failures. Havent heard of a failed mopar one yet, but then again maybe not many people use them. As far as cam specs go this helped me learn..... viewtopic.php?f=27&t=145

Sent my 1992 stock 4.0 cam to Delta Cams in Tacoma, WA. they reground
to the specs I wanted. Comp Cams 68-231-4, the cost was $57.17, a bit less
than the $145.00 for the new cam. This is the third cam in the garage they
have reground. Now back to your previous thread.

That is correct. LSA is 108* and ICA is also 108*.

That's my site and the LSA/ICA numbers that I entered are based on the 0.050" lift opening duration numbers. The link you quoted shows the advertised duration numbers and since the valve lift opening used for the advertised numbers varies between manufacturers, it's more accurate to base everything off the 0.050" lift opening duration.
