Time limit for editing posts.
As some of you know, there is a time limit in place for editing your own posts. I just increased this to 24 hours, and honestly, i think that it should be something more like 90 minutes.
Unfortunately, 99% of most rules are made because of 1% of the people, and this is one of them. The reasoning behind this is that there have been several very good threads that were ruined because the original poster got disgruntled about something with the other posts and then would go in and change the original post making the following post's useless and meaningless since they don't now appear to go with the replying posts. Yes, it happens every now and then based on my experience with running forums.
It is also in place to prevent confusion. You may be replying to someone's posts and it can turn out they have changed their mind in the meantime. If someone goes back and makes major edits to their post days later, all the subsequent posts won't make sense. 90 minutes is plenty of time to read back your post and make sure you are expressing what you really want to say.
This forum was however made for you guys, and you are the ones that should have a say in what happens here. So here is the poll, please pic an option, and post why you picked what you picked... I think my pic is self explanitory.

Re: Time limit for editing posts.
I'd say a half hour is generous. In the last 4 years of being active on web forums I've only ever once wanted to edited a post past a an hour, and it was because someone else jumped on what I accidentally worded poorly and made a big deal about it, and the whole thread devolved.
90 minutes is more than I'll ever use but I have no real problem with it, except that there will invariably be instances of people responding to something that get's edited while they are responding.
90% of the time I edit to add something or correct spelling, the other times it's to change something because I realized I had misunderstood what I was replying to.
BTW NAXJA used to have a 10 minute edit limit and I pretty much hated it.

Re: Time limit for editing posts.
Well guy, my self i would like to see a 2day edit. Al tho i can see why that one % sure could make a muk of it all, in a hurry
I do a lot of spell check and (and re-wording so spell check can recognize what I'm trying to spell
)
and continuously re-reading my post as i go a long to make sure it make sense, what I'm try to say.
Finally hit the submit button and move on
Next day i get back on and
Wow that didn't make sense
or see a mist spelled work......and go and re right or fix a spelling.
24 hours works, I would live with 90 minute but a lot of time i will jump on at lunch post up something quick and not get back for a couple of days...........
Just my .02
Ps I us the goggle tool bar that has spell check as part of it. it would be nice to have a good spell checker on here..............Some day

I've got something... can't remember where I got it that makes spell check work on almost every windows program. underlines as you go and you can right click to get the alternate spelling... best spell checker ever. Might be a firefox plugin or a MS XP powertool can't remember. The best thing is it's not intrusive and you don't need to "run" it.

Re: Time limit for editing posts.
90 minutes is plenty of time to re-read what you want to say, and if for some reason you change your mind later on you can post again, and not make all the previous posts look nonsensical.
Now I can be like all those other awesome people with more than one Jeep in their sig, but now I have to say one of them is sold:(
97 XJ 4.6
90 MJ 4.0 - sold
I want to have as many Jeeps as children. DD, offroader, drag MJ and another one. 4=4

Re: Time limit for editing posts.
I voted for no time limit. I only get online at work (rotating shift). Sometimes I post at 2 a.m., don't reread it for several days, and see a mistake.
And then, sometimes, my stupidity has no time limit.
