Post by jn2630 »

Are cam bearings and freeze plugs from a 4.2 interchangeable with a 4.0?

Some of the 4.2 freeze plugs will fit, but if you order a kit for the 4.2 you will be short other freeze plugs. I thought I purchased a kit for the 4.0L engine, but it was for the 4.2 engine. We used what could fit and then had to order two more plugs.

My freeze plug package says short block plugs 242 (4.0) 6cyl engine and I have tried everything oil, assembly lube even loctite like it said at circle track http://www.circletrack.com/enginetech/c ... index.html , but sure can't get them in. I have seal driver and the hole seems clean. I tried different holes as well. :brickwall:
