Jeep Strokers

Hey guys,

As most of you know (Hey thanks for the previous help everybody!) I picked up a stroker project at about 20% completion level. The fella that I bought it from said the block had been decked but he didn't know how much and I couldn't find any markings indicating that the block had been decked so I decided to install the crack and mock up a piston to measure deck height. So I've got 3241HC pistons with the stock dish on 258 rods. When I mock up the combo I get .020 from the flat part of the piston to the block deck so I'm sure it's been ground down but my question is it decked enough? What are my options at this point? I was thinking about having the pistons dished a little deeper what do you think about that? I was going to run a Comp cams 68-231-4 but is there a better choice?

I'm looking for some opinions/ideas here!

If I did the calculator right it leaves me with the following specs:

4.59 L
9.8 - 1 Static Compression
8.57-1 Dynamic Compression
.0725 Quench


If I dish the pistons an extra 2cc to 16.1

9.6 Static Comp
8.41 Dynamic

If I run a Crane instead of a Comp

9.61 Static Comp
7.72 Dynamic

Anyone been running anything along these numbers?

Keep DCR below 8.5 if you want it to run on pump gas(mine's a bit over at 8.57 and I'm riding the pinging edge with 93oct as the compression builds right before open loop near the torque peak). Before I built mine, I read an article that Jon sent me that explained the importance of choosing DCRs and the recommendation was to shoot for an 8.25 so that you'd have some room in case all measurements weren't completely taken into account/accurate(area above ringland, piston CC to the tenth, actual CC of combustion chamber to the tenth, head gasket opening, etc) Send the pistons to oleshot to get them dished(hopefully they can go to high teens if not 20). Deck the block the .020", and then run the #s with the different cams(but hopefully one that won't have too much overlap, which bleeds off compression/prevents it from starting sooner).
