Borla and Quadratech

So I'm looking at a Borla header and catback system (Holy crap that's alot of coin) somebody tell me that it's worth putting the money into. Any header I've ever been around didn't really make any difference until you had the RPMS up and I'm thinking the new motor won't see 4k much. Can anybody help me here? I also wonder what these sound like anybody got one on a Wrangler that likes the Borla rumble?

My other question is what's the group's opinion about getting engine parts from Quadratech? Anybody had any experiences?

Thanks
Dean

I get most of my 4.0L performance items from [email protected]. I know he has a really nice exhaust system for the XJ, WJ, and ZJ. Might want to drop him a line. I'm not thrilled with my Doug Thorley header, but I have heard good things about Banks. Not a fan of Borla either.

What about the APN exhaust manifold? I heard its basically a BANKS knockoff....

I bought both about five years ago and the price has risen 20% since then. I blame all the cheap mfgs--not nec. for Jeeps, but the other mfg's that Borla competes w/ in other apps that charge less for poorer quality parts and took away a chunk of the market that forced Borla to charge more for their good stuff that moves less. I would buy them again, for sure, if I had too(and I will if I ever get that M3). The only other header I kinda dig is the Clifford and thats because they've been in the Jeep game for years and know their stuff.

I'll add a 2nd vote for the Banks header, I've had mine for 3 years with no problems. I am also running Nick's (Kolak) exhaust setup (high-flow cat, 2.5" mandel bent tubing & FM50 muffler)

I'm curious about this also. Did y'all buy these headers as a replacement for a cracked manifold, or is there some actual dyno evidence that there is an advantage? I need torque!

I bought it as a replacement for my cracked manifold. You won't notice any difference from the header alone but I did notice a little difference in acceleration when I added the rest of the exhaust.

I replaced my stock manifold with the Thorley because I wanted to put a 0630 head on and needed to get rid of the 0331 crap. I felt a difference from the head or the manifold, can't tell you which one did the most because I installed them at the same time. I think JP magazine has a few dyno graphs on the subject.

I have a 99 wrangler soft top with a cat back Borla exhaust. Came that way when I bought it in 2005 w/104k and a cracked stock manifold. Replaced the manifold with a SS Gibson, currently 150k. I like the sound under hard acceleration nice little rumble for a 6. Not really noticable under 'normal' driving conditions. DOESN'T sound like a tuner with a buzz bomb muffler. I live on the coast and this jeep sees occasional beach time. There appears to be no corrosion of the Borla exhaust. I'm going to do a dyno run basically stock with this exhaust in about 3 weeks. I'll post the results under my project string; 4.6 Build in NC.
