Jeep Strokers

are roller rockers a good idea on a stroker motor? less friction...

good deal? seen some for a lot more.
i imagine i would have to change the head to a 7/16" stud some how. is that possible?

I don't know about scorpion, but those are half the price of the yella terras--a very good deal. Ask Dino about the RRs on his stroker.

They are yella terra 1.6 ratio. He has been telling me to get 1.7 ratio instead of a hotter cam. I dont know if its worth the 450 dollars

They have 1.6 or 1.7 and are even cheaper than the previously mentioned rockers. I have never heard of either scorpion or crankshaft depot so I have no idea on the quality of either.

All the roller rockers are for AMC V8's. Only the steel can fit the 3/8s stud, but it may not fit under the valve cover.

They do offer a high flow water pump so I sent messages to a couple people who had gotten high flow water pumps for the 4.0 from the seller asking them if they noticed any improvements.

More important is the question of cam lift/spring pressure.

Valve train geometry.

Rocker arm to ball/valve stem tip.

Both sets of ebay roller rockers are for the AMC V8. They won't work on the I6 because they're not long enough. I know the Yella Terras are not cheap but they're an easy bolt-on and fit under the stock valve cover. Unless you need an adjustable valvetrain or you're going to use a long duration/high lift cam requiring high spring pressures, the Yella Terras will do very nicely. I'm very happy with mine and I have a totally silent valvetrain.

Seriously thouhg Dino-- how much, if any, power increase did you get out of them??

those yella terras are very expensive in my opinion. area there any options for the budget builder?

No power increase, but that's not why I bought them in the first place. The primary reason was to have a silent, stable, and durable valvetrain.
Tigershark, I know the YT's are expensive and I deliberated for quite a while before buying them, but I'm glad I did. The budget builder can reuse the stock rockers but they're really not up to the job if you have a performance cam and stronger valve springs. They'll produce a diesel-like ticking noise that some will find irritating.

It's a long shot but I wonder what the chances are that any other RR's have the same size and stud mount as the I6... I can get stainless steel full rollers for the 289 in my 65 Mustang for slightly over $100 bucks... Not going to spend a third of the cost of a stroker for YT's I'm too cheap You'd think with the bazillion different combo's out there that something would be the same size...

I wonder if the stock stamped rockers cross to any other OEM's engines? That would tell us.

I've done extensive research on the possibility of using roller rockers from other engines in the Jeep I6, and the only ones that even come close are the BB Chevy units. Unfortunately they require too many modifications to the head to make them cost effective.

I should have figured, the same spirit that went into you guys imagineering the Stroker idea probably went into a lot of other what-ifs . Been to your pages many a time. Though not specifically for RR content. Anyway I'll consider that possibility laid to rest.

Are the harland sharp the only rockers that fit under the stock valve cover? or do the crower's fit also.
If I read the modifications for the harland's you need to mill off .400 from the head where the rocker mounts to make them fit, does this cause any problems with valve train geometry?
