Hello, I have a question. The new scat forged connecting rods I received do not have a slot to help lubricate the cam lobes like the oem had. Would it be okay to make a small slot in the center of the bolt to help lubricate?

What do you think about it?

Yup, it would be just fine. I actually did a set of scat rods like that. I drilled a small .040" hole straight through the parting line.

The other option, which I had Carillo do for me on my current set of rods, is to machine a groove into the cheek of each rod. Just angled towards the camshaft rather than straight up at the bottom of the piston.

On a sidenote, it looks like you have assembly lube on your cam lobe’s similar to if not Red line’s assembly lube.

I would recommend going back to the type of Moly lube that contains blends of ZDDP and EP additives as supplied by the cam manufacturers.

This is an old photo, I used the redline but I had to completely disassemble it to cut the deck.
The engine is not reassembled.
Would liqui moly lm48 be good for lobe's?
I find the compcam very liquid.

No, that's a thin assembly lube better applied to engine bearings.

I use Cam Shield on the lobes only. It's excellent, and inexpensive. It's thick and clings to everything like anti-seize.

Thank you, here in Quebec, cam shield is not easy to find. Nobody knows this product. I have easy access to Liqui moly LM 48 which is a moly for camshaft. Do you think this could be suitable? Otherwise, I can have on Amazon, Driven or Redline assembly grease. Redline mentions on their site that their grease is good for cam lobes, what do you think?
