Hello, I'm new here. I started building my first stroker. He's going to have it.
- ic944-020
- Rod scat icr40L
- craink 4.2L-3895
- cam 68-232
- head edelbrock 50169
- roller rocker S40196a
- 24lbs injector
- AFE 2.5’’ manufold and exhaust
- Bbk throttle body
I have a clearence deck of 0.026
I'm wondering if I should put a head gasket of 0.040 , 0.030or a 0.027. I entered the information into a calculator.
Here's what it gives me.
I have no problem driving on 91 octane.
What do you think of these numbers?
Which one would you suggest for 91 octane?
Thanks

Hello, I am thinking of cutting the 0.020 block and putting a 0.040 cometic head gasket.
I think quench is closer to what it's good for. (0.045) What do you think?
But do you think dcr 8.48 is too much for 91 octane? Here are the results.
THANKS

Are you using the stock cast iron heads or Edelbrock aluminium heads? If it's the latter you'll be fine.

hello, I'm going to use an aluminum edelbrock head. Today I am going to cut the block of 0.020. which will give me 0.005 deck clerance with a quench of 0.045.
Thanks

I would support your decision to tighten up the Quench.
With a normally aspirated engine running a aluminum head 91 octane I’m generally shooting for a minimum static of 10.5:1

Hello, I finally decided to cut the block at 0.00 deck clearance and a head gasket cometic mls 0.040. My quench will be 0.040 and my static will be 9.97. I think it will be ok.
Thanks for your help.

I know the dynamic compression is cam dependent, but with 10.5:1 static, what kind of dynamic compression are you aiming for with 91 pump gas?

Offhand I don’t know what the dynamic is but the camshaft I’m using is the 68-235-4 but with the lobe separation angle changed from 111° to 114° has worked like a champ with a factory tune and typically with a 24 pound injector
