S.A. Gear 1999-2006 roller timing set

Post by dwg86 »

S.A. Gear is making a billet steel roller timing chain for the later model 4.0 engines (1999-2006). Part number 785819R. $98.78 on rock auto. I has 9 keyways on the crank gear for adjustability.

This is awesome news! I just got on their website and bough one.

Now, if we could just get a few more cam grinders to make performance cams for the 99-06.

Wow. I had no idea that SA had been making these for over 10 years and selling through Titan. They sure did keep it a good secret for a long time. Regardless, I'm glad they're available through Rockauto.

I talked to Bullet cams. They have 90, 1999-2006 cam cores ready to be ground to your custom specs. Cores are made in USA!

The biggest problem is finding a drop in valve spring that will work for lifts over .450. I've about given up on that. I'm looking for any valve spring that doesn't have too much pressure that will work with a stock retainer. Well at this point I'm looking for any spring that will work with a 4.0 jeep, magnum v8, or hemi retainer that I can machine the head to get around 80-85 psi on the seat and maybe 210-230 open at around .480-500 lift. I'm not sure how much can be machined at the valve pocket.

I just took 0.100" from my 0630, no issues. Using LS valves, retainers and beehives FWIW
