4.6L Questions

New to the forum, as well as strokers. I recently bought a 2000 xj and found the 0331 head to be bad so I bought a reman tupy. Ive also decided to just pull the engine and rebuild it as this is a project for me it never ran all that well to begin with. Upon teardown I found the engine to be bored .030 over with a 4.2 crank and rods and .030 over 4.0l pistons with a comp 68-2 31-4 cam. I want to keep the stroker going and re use the cam and crank. My questions are; Can I use the TUPY head? Also I want to get a set of rods that have the bushing and a set of pistons that will work with that. Really just need a sense of direction and what else I need to do to refresh this engine. Looking forward to some feedback!

1. Yes, you can use the TUPY head.
2. I suggest you contact Russ for a set of 4.0L rods & custom pistons. Then you can set the proper deck clearance and set the piston dish volume for a 9.6:1 compression ratio.

One thing I'd check is have the crank and at least one piston in, and check the deck height to see if it's been milled already

Awesome. I’ve tried contacting him through email a couple weeks ago, still haven’t heard anything though. I’d love to go his route over the scat rods and Kb944 as I’ve heard multiple different opinions on those.

Don't waste your time, they won't show up.
Plenty of other decent companies that stand behind their products, won't lie to you and only sell stock they actually have. I suggest Cleggs as a good place to start.
