Newbie renix stroker question(s)

Post by Lilblue89xj »

Hello everyone! Phew where to start.
Okay I'm new here so bare with me. I've gone through read a few post and can tell I'm beating a dead horse. Just looking for some direction. What I'm working with is an 89' renix 4.0L, I would like to achieve 4.6 but not sure where to begin. Looks like theres a quench problem, fuel pressure reg/injector and possibly a MAP issue. Besides these issues what else do I need to be considering? I do plan on having the block and head worked at a machine shop. End goal is to still be able to uses as much of the stock options as possible as well as have reliability for wheeling and pulling my overlanding trailer.

My apologize for this seemingly annoying post :)

You could do a simple 4.6L stroker build using the following parts:

4.2L crankshaft
4.0L connecting rods
Russ Pottenger's custom.pistons +0.030"
Russ Pottenger's low lift 68-232-4 camshaft

Bored 62mm HO throttle body adapted to Renix intake manifold
2.5" exhaust
22lb injectors

I suggest you contact Russ by PM and discuss your options.

I very much appreciate your input! Thank you for all the information! I was going to buy a stroker kit unless I could find more information on parts and do some figuring of math. I would very much like to keep it on the budget side of things if possible. As far as adapting the ho throttle body is there an adapter plate and what about the TPS?
Again thank you for the information I will look into these parts if you have sources for them send it my way.

The custom route would be best and cheapest.
