Silv-o-lite vs. Enginetech pistons for Jeep 4.0
Not a stroker rebuild, but I figure this might be the place to ask this.....I am rebuilding a Jeep 4.0 inline 6 engine (my first full rebuild), and have a choice of pistons. This likely makes no difference, but the construction of Sil-o-lite 3241HC and Enginetech P3071 seems rather different. Both are made in mexico, both hypereutectic and both have some burrs on the inside of the piston. Silv-o-lites weight 592-594g, Enginetechs weight 616-618g. Enginetechs have thicker skirts (4.6mm vs. 3.4mm), and the bottom of the skirt extends almost whole circumference of the bore. The pins seem to be smoother moving in Silv-o-lites (might be better lubricated). Based on construction, which one of these two looks like a better choice to use in the build?
