Wrong intake manifold gasket

I had leaking freeze plugs and had to remove the intake/ exhaust manifold. That's how the gasket looked like. Strange thing, the Jeep ran great with it.

Without a picture, giving a wild guess...

The American Motors 4.2 inline 6 (source of the stroker crank) cylinder head had all the ports in a line. The 4.0 head ports have the intakes lifted. So, rectangle ports on your gasket could be low?
