Valve springs

Post by dwg86 »

I'm trying to figure out what valve springs to run. Crane shows using 96806 for the 4.0. They only have 204 lbs/in. Is that enough pressure? The 99833 have 328 lbs/in and the 96803 have 330 lbs/in with a damper. Does anyone know the stock spring pressures? I haven't decided on a camshaft yet, although I know it won't be a Crane. I am thinking of a custom ground Reed camshaft.

Im thinking of getting the stock piece reground. Ive read about all the crane failures and I dont want to risk it even if it is only the lack of stuff in the oil. I want to use the older cam from 95 and down cause it has more lift and duration than the 96 and up stuff. As for the springs I think I may be getting the Mopar springs #5249464. Theyre rated to .525" of lift. As for stock pressures - "Seat pressure 85psi, open pressure (0.424" lift) 200psi" - Dr. Dyno
Now I can be like all those other awesome people with more than one Jeep in their sig, but now I have to say one of them is sold:(
97 XJ 4.6
90 MJ 4.0 - sold

I want to have as many Jeeps as children. DD, offroader, drag MJ and another one. 4=4
