CompCam 68-232-4 Valve Springs $$

Post by grithound »

I dont want to :deadhorse:

But after reading quite a few posts here and on the internet, I wanted to see if anyone had updated information or found other alternatives to the Mopar P5249464 valve springs for the CompCam 68-232-4. I would prefer to have drop-ins but once I get the spring, retainer, and molly - Im at $450+. Im interested to see if anyone has a cheaper source than Summit for these or an alternative that has been tested (tried and true). I really didnt want to have the spring base bored, but geeezzzz. It may be cheaper. :brickwall:

They make basically the same cam with .450" lift on both. You would lose .010" intake and .026" on the exhaust. I think .050" duration is the same. I would be surprised if you would be giving up much with the.450" lift cam. They also come nitrided.

On the other hand Newcomer uses stock springs with cams with more lift and on the dyno the stock spring seem to control the valves up to 5000 rpm. I don't know how long the springs will last though. Valve float can take a toll on springs over time.

I have a drop in beehive spring that I use on my LS valve upgrade. 110lbs @ 1.640 installed height. Good to .510 gross valve lift.

• 2.000 LS Intake
• 1.550 LS Exhaust
• Beehive springs
• Moly retainers
• LS Valve Locks

$300.00 plus shipping for the package

Appreciate the response guys. I was able to find the Mopar parts for under 400 so I went that route.
