Re: Starting my build
Been awhile since I last logged in, but here are some updates. It helps I finally got my block and stuff back from the machine shop today.
There has been some questioning my block due to my post of where my piston is in relation to my deck so here are a few pics.
Block casting number
Block ID
Production date
Sorry they were blurry.
Comparing piston pin heights
I couldn't hold the caliper and shot the pic at the same time
4.2L connecting rod stamping number
That's all for now.

Re: Starting my build
Installed the crankshaft lastnight
Pistons installed today
Piston to deck clearance
I forgot to bring my depth micrometer to work today, so here is a shot of my caliper
Main support clearance or lack of
Nothing a few washers couldn't fix
Better pic of clearance
How does it look guys?
Bad news is I was informed today that my cam(avail shipping date is April 15th great our first wheeling trip is April 19th) and oil pump(no shipping info avail) are both back ordered.

The fun will start when you try to put the oil pan on.

It's not bad if you always liked the sounds of steel drums.

Re: Starting my build
I've had a bit of a problem with the oil pan clearing the lowered main girdle. Had to beat the piss out of the pan. Also, check the oil pump clearance while you are at it.Rob92XJ wrote:That's the first time I have heard of that and a friend of mine has a 4.6 in his YJ and no abnormal noises.gradon wrote:The fun will start when you try to put the oil pan on.

Thanks for the reply Silver, I'll check the oil pump when ever it shows up since it and the pick up tube is on backorder along with my camshaft.

Re: Starting my build
Finally got a camshaft for my stroker, our parts dept manager informed me I will probably have my cam in late April early May...F...that so I ordered a Competition Cams cam, I had ordered the Extreme 4x4 4254H cam and lifter set so I finally have the engine together and will be installing it this weekend.

Re: Starting my build
92 XJ is the vehicle, the injectors right now are stock as the FMS 24# ones I was supposed to buy turned out to be painted 19# injectors. Have not taken it WOT yet as it is friggin raining and my tag on my XJ is now dead so I will have to re-register it on Friday.
