anybody know the ohm range for an XJ's fuel level sender?

and for extra credit, anybody know the ohm range for an AMC Spirit fuel level sender?

You didn't mention the year, but on the 1991s the sender resistance is 105 ± 5 ohms. In 1991 they changed the polarity of the fuel gauge, but I almost certain the in-tank sender resistance dod not change. Don

I got an answer from a friend not on this board. thought I'd share:

From the 1994 XJ TSM:
Empty 105 ohms
1/2 full 33 ohms
Full 5 ohms

From the 1981 Spirit TSM:
Empty 248 ohms
1/4 full 151 ohms
1/2 full 105 ohms
3/4 full 65 ohms
Full 31 ohms

He said if you have a TSM for your year vehicle, you should be able to look it up. Though I have yet to find the info in my 1979 TSM.

and for those wondering, an electrical engineer I know recommended a 191-ohm resistor between the positive terminal of the fuel gauge and ground to use a Spirit gauge with an XJ sender.
