Just bought a Jeep for the wife and I that is a dream build to us. 2000 tj with genright suspension on 42" radials, rockjock 60's, and an aluminum head (BMI.... same as Hesco) 4.7l stroker motor (30k miles).

This jeep sees plenty of street miles and the motor isn't happy revving past 3k rpm. Will lug forward in 5th gear (nv3550) fine but I would like some more midrange and a top end of 5k rpm. Currently has 62mm throttlebody, injectors are the same reddish color as TB, and stock exhaust and all cats (primary O2's on manifold are plugged though((??? tuning))

Future plans consist of 68mm TB, ARH long big tube headers w/ 3" collector, roller rockers (head has raised valvecover rail), cam, and FRP hp tuners tune.

Have a Crower solid 210/218 @ .050 @ 108 w/ .448/.452 lift laying around but seems kinda small.

Even after owning the longblock, the cost of the mods listed would pay for an aluminum lt 5.3l V8 (more torque than ls). I'm sure the swap parts would more than double the cost though (which selling the longblock would help recoup).

Any thoughts or experience would be appreciated. Sorry for the novel. THANKS, Kevin

What are the injectors and fuel pump rated for?

Don't know, wasn't purchased from original builder. Was hoping someone might have an idea of the injectors from the color.

Has a slight lope idle. Has a GenRight fuel tank, I think they use stock pumps?

The stock exhaust is definitely a choke point. It needs to be 2.5" in diameter at a minimum from where the two limbs of the stock downpipe join to form a Y.
It sounds like you have a ported head so you'll need to port match the intake manifold runners to remove any restrictions and improve airflow.
You could also go for a 68mm TB and enlarge the intake manifold plenum opening to match.
The Crower cam you have should work fine and, with those lift numbers, you can use stock valve springs.

A '97 should have an AX15 in not a NV3550?
You state it has 42" tonka tires on it, what's the axle ratio? should be 4.88's or even 5.13's?
You can get more power out of ANY engine!!!

I edited my profile.. The 1997 is for sale. Bought a 2000 that is fully built. Has 41.5x13.5 pitbull radials. I think gears are 5.38:1.

Does a 2000 only have 2 O2 sensors? After the Y-pipe there are 2 converters with a single O2 sensor before the first cat and behind the second cat.

The header has two bungs that are plugged.

O2 sensors should be as close to the engine as they can.
