It's not a bad kit but you'd be better off getting Russ' custom pistons specced to your desired compression ratio. The KB424Cs leave you needing to mill at least 0.020" off the block deck to achieve a tight quench height to reduce detonation risk. Russ' pistons are taller and save you the cost of milling the block. With a tighter quench you can spec a higher compression ratio and still be able to run the engine on 87 octane gas if gas prices are a major concern.

Im doing full machining of the block anyway, and plan on having the rotating ass'y balanced by clegg before shipping. Would simply specing .20 deck mill accomplish the same thing? Who is ross and how do I contact?

Many Thanks

Found and talked to Russ. Nice fellow, out of pocket for a few more days but certainly seems to be a wealth of knowledge. Some one may know the answer to another question in the meanwhile - I have heard that a header on a "stage 1 regular gas" type build is a waste of $$. If not true - and I do go the header route - how does one compensate for the 2 o2 sensors on the dual cats from the factory "3+3" header?

Since your Jeep is a 2006 model. I suggest you stick with the stock header plus the upper part of the downpipe with the dual precats, cut the downpipe where the two secondaries join to form a Y, discard everything behind it, and create a new system that's 2.5" in diameter with a high flow cat and your favourite muffler.

Thanks Cheromaniac! When I got the rig it had hollowed out precast and no cat. I replaced the precast but only put a muffler behind it. Guess I thought the precast were cats. No O2 sensor codes. Ok to run this way when I get the motor done?

If you're not subject to emissions testing where the cats may be required?, and it isn't throwing codes I wouldn't worry about it, my '97 TJ hasn't had a "cat" (it's hollowed out) on it for about 15 years now and has never thrown a code.
