Can the stock main bolts be re-used?

Post by 1984Laredo »

Can the OEM main bolts be re-used without having to replace? I read an older post by Russ somewhere that for 99% of our stroker builds, the stock bolts will be sufficient. Which is great - but can they be used multiple times? My engine has had one previous rebuild where the stock bolts were re-used then. Will I be ok using them once more for my stroker?

The main bearing cap bolts aren't torque to yield so yes, you can reuse them.

Thanks!

Is it also correct that when reusing the same main caps and bolts, a line hone isn’t absolutely necessary (as if it would be if changing bolts or to studs)?

That is correct. No line hone when reusing the original parts.
