Adding an electric fan?

Post by Shrek »

I am installing a 4.0 head on my 4.2. The wiring harness I have, has the wiring to the PCM and to the PDU. If I add an after market electric fan, could I use the stock wiring to control the fan?

Thanks

Yes but proper fan control is a simple on/off switch. This way you can turn the fan on and leave it on. You can leave it on while pumping gas on a hot summer day.

You can also wire the fan switch inline with the OE fan circuit. So if you forget to turn it on, it will come on anyway at whatever temperature your computer requires.

You order one of these harnesses:

Wire it in like this

Thank you for the input, I like the idea of using the OE fan circuit and wiring it inline.
