Oversimplified CR and Octane, but am I right

Is it so that if I'm just willing to use premium fuel and mostly drive like a grandpa that detonation isn't a worry with a sound build? I've already bought parts that will put me over 9:1. I just want more low end for off-roading, and occasional daily driving.

Static and dynamic compression ratio are but two of many factors that'll determine your engine's octane requirements. We might be able to predict what type of gas your engine might need based on the build specs, but ultimately it's only by driving the vehicle yourself where you'll really find out.
A build for mostly slow off-road driving will require plenty of low rev torque, and that dictates a short duration cam plus a modest (not more than 9.5:1) static compression ratio.
