Jeep XJ 4.0 renix hop up

Post by TJryder »

Hi,

I bought a local Garage find 1990 XJ. It was locked up in garage due to ABS issues for something like 15 years.

Low miles, but some issues.

I replaced fuel pump, working on ABS delete, installed new sparks, cables, distributor. Did ultrasonic cleaning of injectors.

It runs for a while (like 3-5 minutes) and then just starts to loose one cylinder after the other and stops. Any idea what could be the issue?

Otherwise - wanted to do:
- 7120 DIY ported swap
- 4.7 V8 throttle body swap
- regear to 4.56 and 31" and 4" lift
- cam swap

Now for cam - what would you recommed?

I am building stroker for the 2000 TJ - and will not build two of them ;)

One of the leading factors in making a choice for a camshaft is whether or not you’re going to retain the stock valve springs.

More than happy to offer recommendations in either case and both can be on the late thrust plate style cam.

Hi Russ,

Depends. If replacing springs is related to other head work - than I would stivk at stock springs.

With reasonable pricing - why not go a step forward
But this time I would go budget minded ;-)
