Cheap Stroker Build
So if my current 4.0 fails, I want to build a cheap stroker. I do not know a ton on this subject do go ahead and make fun of me if u like. What would I need for a cheap 4.5l stroker? I've read where I can use the 4.2l crank and connecting rods. I would also bore it over but not sure how much would be best. Would I port and polish the head? I have a machine shop less then 5 mins from me that I know the owner well. From my understanding, i could use the stock 01 injectors? If I were to do this what cam could I use ? Pistons? Would I need to do anything with the valves? I would want a reliable, yet slightly more powerful then stock motor. What power could I expect? Any info us welcome. I am looking for cheap though. Like I said, I do not know a ton on this subject.

You mentioned '01 injectors so I'm going to assume you have a Jeep of the same year. Then you could do this:
4.6L Modified "poor man's" stroker
Jeep 4.2L 3.895" stroke crank
Jeep 4.0L 6.125" rods
Custom forged +0.020" bore pistons, compression height 1.380", dish volume 26cc
9.25:1 CR
Stock 4.0 camshaft
DIY ported HO 1.91"/1.50" 57cc cylinder head
Mopar/Victor 0.043" head gasket
0.043" quench height
Bosch 0280155703 injectors for '96-'04 engines
245hp @ 4700rpm, 315lbft @ 3000rpm ('96-'04 camshaft)
