It's been slow going, I know I havent posted much lately and i apologize. It's been difficult to get anything done with working out of town lately. Hoping for some change soon to get more progress done in a short amount of time.

I havent completed the engine assembly yet, but have most of it together, the important parts anyway. Now it's just getting all the covers and pans on it anyway. Probably will slap some paint on it when I'm all done.

I ended up getting harland sharp fixed roller rockers, when I had those fixed to the head, I measured to get proper length pushrods. Ordered those from a company out of Michigan. Ended up with one piece chromoly pushrods, which I feel better about after seeing my buddy's engine chew up some of the stock pushrods. I ordered a new timing cover and oil pan, waiting to put those on until I get my valve cover cleaned up and painted, which btw is an aluminum cover that has no baffling, so it will clear the roller rockers no problem. Measured already to ensure, but if not, I do have the spacer necessary to allow proper clearance.

Wow! Its been forever since I've done anything here. I ordered a bunch of parts and never got around to installing them... I intended on using an old valve cover and cleaning it up, never got around to doing that so I just ordered a new aluminum valve cover. Once I get that on, I can close the engine up completely, finally.

Just ordered a doug thorley header for the engine, i have a used intake manfold from a the 99+ engines, non ported to put on there as well, thatll use a good douching beforehand as well. Maybe I'll get everything together and installed soon. I've had to get other parts for my jeep including a new tie rod kit and some front and rear lunch box lockers.

Small progress update, finally got the covers and pan on. Going to take some time to tape things off and paint block and head. Im undecided about the timing cover, as its raw aluminum. Id ask for an opinion, but im sure I won't get one as it seems I've been exiled from the group. More or less I'm talking to a brick wall now.

I'd leave the timing cover unpainted.

I painted mine AMC blue. I just put it in my 1985 CJ-7 last Sunday. Hopefully I’ll get some more work done this weekend.

Mine is a 4.7 as well .060” over. I used parts from Russ. Pistons, rods, cam, springs, everything pretty much. Russ was great to work with, answered my questions and steered me straight on this build. My goal is max power on 87 octane gas. I ported my 0630 head myself and used Manley LS1 valves. This was my first inline six build.

I love that AMC blue!

I love the look! Which Thorley header did you get? Single outlet style?

Single outlet, and thank you bud, much appreciated.

So I've been doing a little more work here and there when I can, so this is how the engine sits as of now, need to get a few other items and ill be ready to swap finally.

Its pretty stout, so i don't think ill have much issue with it. Ill also get my exhaust built by a shop around here and have it opened all the way up to 2.5" from the down pipe down. They do some nice work, now i just gota figure out what muffler to go with, may keep the one I have now honestly since I like the tone it has

You might find that header and the new style intake don't play nice. Had to mill a bit off the bottom of the intake and dimple the tubes on 3 and 4 for clearance.

Thanks for the heads up, I need to shave a bit off the bottom at the 4th exhaust runner. Looks like some shaping is needed there and I should be good to go.
