Ok it’s been a while since I’ve been here but here goes.
I have sold my Tj and stroker, and bought a Jk with the 3.8 and I want to stroke it but the only place I can find anything on stroking the 3.8 is 505. Does anyone have any insight into getting the 3.8 stroked?
Thanks, Al

Stay away from 505.
Is the 3.8 worth messing with, even stroked? I've always heard it was a real boat anchor.

I here mixed info. They do make supercharger and turbo kits for it with good luck but I’m not sure I want to go that route.

Do a 392 Hemi swap. There. Fixed it.

I would love to drop a 392 in it. Anybody want to donate to the cause?

Probably cheaper than the 3.8 stroker if you can use the same tranny.

Nah the trannie is the 42rle and it won’t hands a Hemi at all.

Find a totaled Dodge Charger or Challenger SRT8 to use as a parts donor.

I don't think most people in here are familiar with the newer motors. Maybe you could become our resident expert?
The only experience with 3.8 strokers I've had is just shooting the breeze with a guy that had one. He didn't sound impressed and wanted a ride in mine. He said my Jeep would absolutely smoke his, but he an auto and it was a 4 door JK so definitely not an apples to apples comparison.
I think the real reason there is so much interest in stroking the straight 6 is because it's a healthy motor to begin with but more importantly it can be done with many factory parts. Not that many people in here have cheeap builds, but I think the cost of rebuilding a standard I6 vs stroking it is negligible. How much do 3.8 stroker kits cost?

I just looked them up. It only brings them up to a 4.1L? Totally not worth it. And like we mentioned about 505......

Sorry I’ve been out of touch, was on vacation in Alaska. Resident expert, if so I have a lot of learning to do. The cost from 505 is comparable to a rebuild with all new internals. I may just have to build it with tried and true methods. 505 also has the only performance cams available but I can get a regrind to solve that. Compression is already 9.6:1, headers are available but very expensive, Ripp claims 54 rwhp and 30 ft pounds with their headers and tune for about 2 grand. I’m not sure of the quench or camber volume yet, I do have a core but have had a chance to get it torn down to get some specs yet.
