Started with a 4.0 and now it’s time to go bigger

Last summer I built a motor for my Comanche and being the first time building a motor I played it safe and went with a basically stock rebuild because it was my daily driver and I wanted to keep it simple. This time around I’m building a motor for my Cherokee and I want a little more power. I’m still new to all the motor math, so I’m going to play it safe with a kit. I’m looking to do a clegg stage 1 stroker with a stage 1 cam. The guy at clegg says I can run the stock springs with their cam, but does recommend a new set of stock springs since mine have about 175,000 on them. Can I really run stock springs with the stage 1 cam? I talked to a guy I know who has done a few 4.0 builds and done quite a few other motors and cams and he tells me I’ll have issues with the valves floating if I use a stock spring. Anyone used stock springs with that cam or a similar cam and had good luck? Thanks

You could run stock valve springs with the Clegg stage 1 cam but since yours are probably tired, it would be wise to buy new ones.
