Hey folks,
I'm almost ready to get the new stroker back in my XJ. Is there a preferred coolant you guys are using? What about Water Wetter, etc... Is the switch to electric fans worth it?
Thanks,
crust1

PRESTONE, 50/50 or thicker not exceeding 70/30.
I put "Water Wetter" in my jeep and believe that I wasted my money!
Keep the original engine driven fan, electrics are a waste of time and money.

I run the ford taurus 2 speed in my YJ and will never look back. Coolant, Prestone as mentioned works well, used it for years in everything, but have recently switched to NAPA fleet premix 50/50, I get a good discount from them and it has worked well.

John i am curious where did you place your sensor to activate the fan? I used a piece of muffler tube, and braized a brass fitting into it and threaded my sensor into that. I have it inline with the lower radiator hose (to sense when the coolant flowing into the block is needing to be cooled)

Thanks people. I'd was inclined to just go with the basic, but wasn't sure. I had been running Toyota coolant at the recommendation of a knowledgeable friend, but it's pretty spendy.

I'm running two stock e-fans: a 96 8-blade and a 97+ 10-blade(a lil more cfms). I've used prestone. I always mix my own since I'd rather pay $10 for a whole gallon of coolant instead of $9 for half a gallon of coolant and less than $.50 of distilled water. I almost dropped a ten on some Water Wetter, just to see how it does. Redline has some excellent oils, so maybe they have another good product.

Same type mount, but mine is in the top hose, set to come on at 220 for the low speed and off about 215. High speed is set up as a manual override, and I have a all off for water crossings.

Prestone 50/50 or just prestone with distilled water. I also stay away from anything that is orange, be it dexcool or not.
