Understanding Tuning for my stroker

Hello,

I need to try and understand what I need to tune my stroker once it's installed. I want to buy the parts soon.

1997 Jeep XJ
4.7L alum head stroker 11:1 comp (hopefully 300 HP or more)
26 lb injectors

It's my understanding there's not an adjustable FPR for my year? I believe I've read I would have to convert to an older style fuel rail to use an adjustable FPR.

Looks like I will need an adjustable MAP sensor. Timing can't really be played with unless you can tune the "computer". I plan to run a vacuum gauge and a wideband AFR gauge.

Can someone give me a rundown of what I need to do? I searched and didn't really find a thread like this.

You could install an adjustable fuel regulator when the factory one goes out.

I believe 1997+ had the fix regulator at the fuel pump in the gas tank. The factory pump on my 01 XJ went out on mine, and then had an inline high-rate pump with adjustable fuel regulator. The regulator was installed under the hood, so adjustments are easier.

I have a mid-range stroker build with 10:1 compression, Eldebrock aluminum head from Russ Pottenger, and 703 Bosch injectors. The AFRs are good overall. I have not done any other tuning.

Thanks for the response. Can you tell me what pump and FPR you bought?

The pump is a Walpro 255LPH inline. They also have an intake version. I’ll need to find out what FPR was used.
