Is this a sign of a new fuel pump going bad?

Installed a new frame mounted E2000 fuel pump: https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/car ... /5404517-P because I thought I had a fuel pump issue (I didn't, it was a fuel pressure tester loaner tool that stopped working).
I left the new pump on and now after about 200 miles, this new pump:
- whines (much louder than the old one), and
- I just noticed the sound "de-surging"/oscillating at idle and the engine rpm "de-surging" at the same time.
I have a sound file, but the forum won't allow me to attach.
I think I'm at 43 psi with my adjustable fuel pressure regulator (I've been to 2 Autozones and both fuel pressure testers show a 0 psi reading even though I have pressure -- I've been driving the stroker for 200 miles).
Your thoughts? Is this an indication of a fuel pump going bad?
