98 TJ block into a 99 XJ

As the title indicates, I am going to get a motor from a 98 auto TJ and rebuild it as a stroker for my 99 XJ 5 spd. Will there be any issue with the swap? I've read differing things.

You might have an issue with matching the XJ engine mounts with the bolt bosses on the TJ engine block, and the TJ water pump is different from the XJ's so remember that when you order a new unit.

Thanks, I'll continue hunting for a Cherokee block in that case.

Any XJ block from '96-'99 will do ('00-'01 have crack-prone heads) so there are plenty to choose from.

Already found a 99 Cherokee engine at half the price
