KB pistons

Basically you need a piece of cheap plexiglass, drill a small air hole and a larger hole that would allow the tip of a 60 to 100cc syringe tip to enter thru the hole.
Put a thin layer over grease the head gasket surfice of the combustion chamber to be tested. Press the plexiglass on to the grease and add fluid until all the air has been push out buy the fluid. Read you syringe and thats you cc's Pretty simple really.

The only thing you have to be careful with is if you didn't make a good enough grease seal it could be seeping out. easy way to tell is to leave the fluid in for a minute or so and if the fluid has gone down, air has re entered, you have a leak some wheres. This also work grate for testing the seal of your valve seat to valve head seal. If it leaves a stain of water at the valve seat. Looking up thru the port, this is ok and a good seal. If water runs down at all out of the port.......You have a leaking valve!

I got my 60cc syringe form a Animal Hospital, but you could get them from any pharmacy.

I think we're waiting on dwg's word, since he's been communicating with KB about them. I'll be ready to buy them on Thursday if they're available. I haven't checked to see if kb forged sets come with the pins and rings--anybody know?

I will call KB tomorrow. The last time I talked to them, they said that we would not be able to buy the pistons directy through them. They said summit, jegs, hesco, and rpm machine. I will find out also if pins are connected. I don't know if they will give me a price, but I will ask.

the UEM piston, can't emember the P/N. The shop ha already confirmed the dimensions and weight with KB so it's supposed to be an exact match.

Talked with KB today, the pins are included. The forgings have been done, and the ring grooves have been cut. They are going to the cnc to be completed. Timeframe? About 3 weeks. Don't shoot the messenger... just relaying what I'm told.

I just emailed summit to let me know when a uem-kb944020-6 kit will be available--guess in three weeks. So guys, is it smart to go ahead and have the block work done with the 3.895" bore(.020 over) w/o the pistons in hand? Also when balancing the rotating assembly, do they need the pistons and rods installed on the crankshaft or do they just balance the crankshaft and weight balance the rods w/pistons?
