Passed somg again

Just wanted to give an update for people wondering about how strokers do with smog in California.

So I just got it smogged last month, and I think that this test is a better gauge on how my stroker did with the smog vs my first build because my first build was a failure, and the only way I passed smog on my first build was to buy a brand new cat. I fixed the issues during the second build, and everything seems to be going great, and I don't seem to have any noticeable issues; it doesn't even ping on 87 gas.

A few things to point out before I did the smog is: It's been about a year since the second build, and the cat is over a year old too. It wasn't time for an oil change, so I probably had about half way to go before it was time for one. I probably mostly had 87 gas in it, but I did put some 89 before going to get it smogged. So here are my results, and if anyone can tell me that I'm running lean--let me know.

Also, my build isn't special.

-I have a 91-95 stock mellings cam

-+.020 kb 944 pistons

-I'm using the fel-pro severe duty head gasket

-96 block with a 95 head.

-ATK or AKG header--I forget.

-Cherry bomb exhaust.

The stroker seems to be getting better and better the more I drive it. I feels looser compared to when I first drove after the build.

Another relevant specification would be your static compression ratio

Going from the calculator--the SCR is between 9.15:1 to 8.98:1 depending on how much the Felpro-sever duty head gasket got crushed I guess, cause the advertised thickness for that gasket is 0.0499 to 0.0599 Inch. I'm also using the blue top ford 24 lb injectors, and the recommended colder spark plugs for a 4.6 stroker.

That Fel-Pro head gasket has a compressed thickness of
.051

Thanks, so my SCR is 9.12:1.

What are the recommended colder plugs?

I've read that the RC9YC4 were recommended, so I have those.

Also, just wondering if people are running anything hotter than a RC9YC4?

Passed CA emissions again with no trouble. Well, the only issues I had were that my fuel cap was bad and I had a leak in the EVAP system that turned out to be a couple of loose hoses that needed tightening up, but other than that it passed clean. I did change the oil and put 91 octane before the test, and I though that I should mention that cause it ran a little cleaner this time around, but I don't remember if I put 91 octane or just left it with 87 last time.

15mph and 25mph:

PPM last time measured 19 and 12, this time it was 7 and 8.

CO last time meas .03 and .01, this time it was .01 and .01

NO last time meas 577 and 585, this time it was 398 and 584

I only posted the changes.

My 4.6 stroker would pass the inspection with much lower HC and CO emissions than the original strong running 4.0. Just goes to show that if you get all the dots lined up correctly, passing emissions is a breeze.
