I've sold my child

It's with great sadness that I had to end my 21-year ownership of my Jeep yesterday.
I'll be relocating to Cyprus in about 2 weeks' time to be reunited with my loved ones, start a new chapter in my life, and start a new job in a private hospital. Unfortunately the Jeep couldn't go with me 'cause it's left hand drive and Cyprus is a right (some might say wrong) hand drive country like the UK. Due to its advanced age I wouldn't be able to register it so I very reluctantly had to part with it. The new owner is another Jeep enthusiast who's been following my sites for years so when he heard that I was selling it, he was all over it like a bee to honey! Yesterday he drove it off into the sunset (literally) on the highway to his home in Abu Dhabi a very happy bunny.
I've loved that Jeep since day one and it's forever etched into my heart. It's been an absolute peach. I really couldn't have wished for a more reliable car and I've had a lot of happy memories with it. I'll continue to lurk around in the forum offering any words of wisdom that I can and my sites will, of course, stay up as a tribute to the old warhorse.

I know a guy named Russ that is pretty sharp with strokers.

X2
Dino,
Wishing you the very best going forward in the new chapter of your life.
Just keep reminding yourself my friend, as one door closes another will open up to bigger and better opportunities

Indeedy. That's exactly how I see it.
I also have a 2006 Mustang GT and I'll be shipping that to Cyprus. I can register only one LHD vehicle so that'll be it.

LOL yeah, I've no doubt he could build me a great stroker but I'd need to find another Jeep to put it in first.

Dino,
Sorry you had to sell your child. I have been reading about your modifications for many years now. I really appreciate all the information you've compiled and shared with...the world, I guess? It's definitely more accurate and informative than depending on magazine articles. Haha. Anyway, hope you can find another jeep adventure in your future.
Thanks, Roger

That is quite sad, but life brings changes. I hope you won't be a stranger to the various Jeep forums though. Perhaps you could pick up an XJ or ZJ in Cyprus and build a new stroker for it. I'm not too far behind you in my XJ ownership, 16 years. I don't know if you recall, but my first major modification was when I was still on Jeepsunlimited and swapped a 0630 head and earlier header (the was no 00+ header then) on my 2000 XJ w/ cali emissions. Probably around 2002. I questioned you heavily prior to that swap. I hope you stick around.

I don't think I'll be buying a 4.0L Jeep in Cyprus and building a stroker for it. The cost and hassle just isn't worth it, and the 2.5L turbodiesel XJs were more popular for their lower running costs.
At least my 2006 Mustang GT has arrived now. I just need to complete the customs clearance in Limassol Sea Port and arrange insurance cover to drive it away.

Kemosabe lives on!
The new owner installed a lift kit, snorkel, fender flares, and bigger wheels to transform my old Jeep from street machine into an offroad beast.

Nice! Glad to see it live one and get taken care of. I know that Jeep inspired many (including myself) to do a stroker.

The one who bought the Jeep was very lucky. It looks great! I wonder what Jeep lift kit he installed. By the way, are those
Bushwacker fender flares?

Yeah, they sure look like Bushwackers. I believe the lift kit is 3" and the tires are 30". Still running on stock 3.07 axle gears but Samer (the new owner) is considering swapping axles from a later model automatic with 3.55's.
