New here, starting to buy parts to build my 4.6L.... just curious, do you have to run a cool air intake or can you run the stock air box with a snorkel? I have looked and searched for an answer to this, but I just cant seem to come up with anything. I have seen several places that the stroker only pulls like 380-390 cfm, and was curious if the stock air box and snorkel would do fine or not....

Make your own CAI with the largest conical filter that'll fit in the available space. If you're going to be fording through water, install a snorkel mated to the stock airbox.

Snorkel is more restrictive than the stock air box.

Indeed it is but it can also be life-saving for the engine in two situations:

1. When fording streams or large water holes.
2. Raising the intake opening prevents much of the low-flying dust generated by driving on dirt tracks from clogging the filter.

I am well aware of the function of a snorkel.

I know you are. ;-) My comment was also aimed at others reading this thread.
