87 XJ/4.2 Head ??

From another forum I was asked to answer this question.
89 YJ, 4.2 was replaced with a 87 XJ 4.0 and the 4.2 head and intake were put on the 4.0 block
Have an chance to pick up a 1990 4.0 engine for a great price but I need to know if the 4.2 head will bolt right up and run fine like it does on the 87 4.0 block
If the information is accurate somebody did a 4.2 to a 4.0 head swap on the 87 XJ block...... :huh:
The 1990 engine should still have the 4.2 head (2868) so that should swap over.
Anyone care to help decipher this ? Thinking the info is incorrect as it applies to the head swap.
I've asked for the head casting number.
