I have a message in my out box for the last 3 days. why can't I send this? is there anything I should be doing ?

When you send a message to a user it stays in the Outbox until the user logs in and reads it. If they never login and read it then it will stay in the outbox indefinitely. Once it is read then it ends up in your sent items.
