My can might be shot. I did my initial break in light revs and short trips with oil system primed and can all lubed up. 1st oil change bad lifter tick when cold and seems to get better as it warms up. Stupid me put in old lifters. Go ahead and laugh I wasn't thinking. What an idiot !!! Go on... If anyone gives a crap and would like to help here's what's going on...

Louder when cold
Cruising speed you hear it
Any acceleration it goes away
Any deceleration it goes away
Idles and starts like a champ
No missing or loss of power

Or just laugh

I think you already know what you're going to find; cupped lifters and worn cam lobes 'cause you made the mistake of using old lifters on a new cam.
New lifters on an old cam is OK but not the reverse.
Sorry to hear about your troubles and hope you get the engine sorted quickly.

Thank you. Since there is less than 60 miles on it and I haven't even hit 4000rpms on it yet hopefully the lifter swap solves it. I hope

Dino is absolutely correct.

At the very least when you pull your lifters out check the bottom of the lifters with a Percision straight edge. Hold it up to a light.
The lifters should have a slight crown. If any of them don't, plan on doing a lifter and camshaft change.

Well I'll find out Wednesday when I pull the head. Hopefully the lifters just took a shit with a higher lift camshaft. If they don't have a slight crown is dead flat okay ? Obviously if they are caved in I got problems. Thanks Russ , didn't want to directly contact about this and take time out of your work day.

Darn, what luck. Now, please take the instructions of your doctor to heart. Do as he/she tells you! On the bright side - most of us are right handed. Hope that is the case with you.

Sorry to hear that. Hope the left isn't your dominant side so you can still do most tasks with the right hand.
Looks like you'll need a helper to be your left hand while you're working on the Jeep so have some beer & pizza ready.

That will be interesting, a 'one armed jeep head puller' to change out the lifters. Please post you tube video.

Lmfao. This really sucks hardcore. I'm the type that would try anyways. In the way of holding a beer that's what the beer hats are for lmao. Right handed and have to paint, got a family to provide for. As of now all I can do it look under the hood and sigh

Could have been worse. I'm also right-handed and I fractured my right wrist 15 years ago playing soccer, so I very quickly had to learn to write with my left hand for the first two weeks until I could be fitted with a lighter cast.
