So as the machine shop is finishing up with my block, my stroker build is about to start. I want to paint the engine to keep it from rusting and to make it look nice.
What I am wanting to know, is what is the best and highest quality engine paint out there? I want satin black. I do not care if I have to mix it and spray it with a paint gun. I have a compressor and a small paint gun. I just want something that is tough as nails and is oil, fuel, grease, and heat resistant. I have used a few various rattle can "engine paints" in the past on other engines, and they usually start flaking off after a year or two. Even when I was anal with the prep.
So anyone have any recommendations?
Best high quality engine paint?

Re: Best high quality engine paint?
A satin black will get discolored, gloss-wise, by oil. Best to go with a gloss black.
I just use a urethane automotive paint applied over an epoxy primer. Had good results with catalyzed enamels too.
