Clearwater or EQ 0331 cylinder head

Post by Dewey »

Hi guys does anyone have any input on the engine quest head and the Clearwater head. Is one better than the other? ( casting, product quality. )

Also if some have info on the heads. Port size, chamber size, and or if one performs better than the other.

Thanks for any input

Does any one have any input on these heads? I have looked for info on these heads, maybe not hard enough but I thought someone on this site would have some info or experience with them.

Thanks

I was told by Clearwater that both the Clearwater and the EQ heads come from the same supplier. So my assumption is they are the same cylinder heads.

checked with enginequest and their head is cast in asia. so the question here is. are all of these heads the same and cast in china??

is the clearwater head the same? if so, why not buy the cheapest head? does anybody know about these new castings at all?

I bought a Clearwater head, here the info I measured and tested on the head. The head is new, the valves were not.
valves were refaced 45* had .0002 of run out ( good ). the tops of the valves were cut to set the rocker height, it looks like it was done on a bench grinder, ( very bad ) I will fix this. the seat height in the head is good the heights are all with in .002 of each other.
the seats are cut at 45 * . I will cut new seats that will flow better than 1 angle. Chamber is 58cc, Intake port is 112cc, Exhaust port is 68cc.

#3 port flowed #4 port flowed 28in
IN ----- EX -- IN ------ EX

.550- 206.1 - 123.8 -- 196.4 - 127.8

I hope this helps. I looked for info on these heads and did not find much so bought one and did it myself. I think that all
the of the cast iron heads are most likely the same manufacture.
