Clevite cam

Post by oletshot »

I'm considering using a Clevite 229-2174 cam for my 4.5 stroker build. I'm shooting for 8.8 static compression. I'll be using the stock pistons dished to 23cc's, 258 rods, and a .043" head gasket. With this combination of parts, the pistons end up .030" below the deck at TDC and with the .043" head gasket, quench matches stock 4.0 at .073". Since compression and quench are close to stock 4.0, I'm hoping to get away with a single pattern cam without pinging. Anyway, I'm thinking of going with the Clevite cam, does anyone have any experience with this cam?

Well, I'm going with this cam. I got it new with clevite lifters and timing chain for $150 off ebay. A couple guy's on the Yahoo group are runnig this cam and seem to be pleased with it. Thanks, everybody, for all the input.

Will do! Hopefully by the time I'm assembling, this post will be lost in a sea of new posts.

well one can always plug the forums elsewhere. I'm not advocating spamming other forums but dropping the site name on your local wheeling boards or other favorite hangouts, as long as it's not blatent spam and related to the same topics. That would go a long way to help grow the site.

One prime example is simply adding it to your signature.
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
You're lucky that hundred shot of CAPS LOCK didn't blow the welds on the forum!!
