I just read in another thread that Russ Pottenger is developing a new piston with Racetec. Can you provide more info on this Russ? I will be ordering pistons soon and would love to hear of any new options.

Hi Jason,

RaceTec will be working with me on several changes and options
Incorporated in the current piston design.

The most notable and obvious change is that we will no longer be restricted to using a symmetrical
reverse chamber dish piston. Although the current pattern is based off of my ported 7120 head chamber,
all stock untouched cumbustion chamber heads will benefit.
Reverse dome volumes up to 28cc shouldn't be a problem.
A floating pin option will also be available. I can machine and install AB bushings in customers rods
or sell you bushed rods outright.

I'll be carrying a fair amount of in inventory, but the usual 3 to 4 week applies to customs at
no additional costs.

Any chance of a thicker head so a larger reverse dome than 28 cc would be possible? Thinking supercharged/turbocharge pistons.

The limitation is the crown thickness in the forging.
A full circular dish would be acceptable in a supercharged/turbo.
That would help in gaining additional volume as long as the crown
thickness isn't compromised. Using a aftermarket connecting rod like
a Scat that doesn't have a balance pad which requires additional clearanceing
would also help.

My 7120 chambers typically come out to 62cc and can go to 65cc
I'm guessing I can get the Edelbrock to 60

Pistons are about 3 weeks out now.
In about 2 months orders will be filled in 5 business days.

Depending on options they will run $550.00 to $575.00 a set.
Further discounts if ordered in a engine kit.

What pin heights?
Only for strokers? or also for stock 4.0L? Overbore? 0.030"? 0.060"?

I can do a compression height to your specification at no additional cost.

My stocking shelf pistons will have a compression height of 1.390.
With a unmachined deck and rods, that should put you around a zero deck
with a 3.876 stroke 258/4.2 crankshaft.

That way you have the option of leavin the deck alone, or do what I do and
machine .010 off the deck and have the option of a .043 or .051 head gasket
to use based on how short the rods get after sizing, and/or application.
